This week on the show I share a conversation with fellow performance nutritionist and chef Will Girling, who has been working as a nutritionist since 2014 for a variety of athletes. He currently serves as the nutritionist for EF Pro Cycling and has previously worked with a variety of professional cycling teams including One Pro Cycling and Trek Drops, and is embarking on his doctorate through Liverpool John Moores University.
We talk about the tactical side of fueling for elite cycling performance and what aspiring professional athletes can learn from that, mistakes the pros and amateurs alike make nutritionally, his thoughts on vegan and plant-based nutrition for athletes, the importance of cooking to build self efficacy for younger athletes, and building buy in and confidence in this arena. It's a wide ranging conversation and I so appreciate Will's perspectives and philosophies around food and fueling, and the importance of seeing the big picture through the marginal gains of performance nutrition. To connect and learn more about Will, check out his website at willgirling.com and find him on Instagram and YouTube where he posts short, digestible and really useful sports nutrition tips in video form.
