Mina is a world class rock climber, for the climbing nerds out there she's been on the Great Britain world cup climbing team, placing 9th overall there in 2013, has climbed multiple V11s all the way up to V13 and 5.14 routes. But I really wanted to speak with Mina because of her perspectives outside of climbing actually. I first heard about her through a mutual friend, Tyler Landman who has also been on the podcast, after she wrote an amazing piece for UK Climbing about her experience with Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S). It was a big deal for the climbing world to share this so vulnerably, and she now coaches other climbers on nutrition after becoming a certified nutritionist. She also has a background in physiotherapy and is a fellow student of meditation. She is also the co-host of the Curious Climber podcast with her friend and climbing partner Hazel Findlay.
We talk about her upbringing into climbing and how her RED-S diagnosis took form and the lessons learned from that experience, as well as conversations around nutrition, podcasting, meditation, sport philosophy, and more. I really enjoyed the chat and I hope her wisdom helps guide you in your relationship to sport and to food. Mina has some great perspectives. To learn more about Mina, check out her podcast like I mentioned and follow her on Instagram at @minaclimbing, as well as her work with Lattice Training.
I have a couple of slots open for January nutrition coaching so if you're looking to make some positive change in your health and performance in the new year shoot me an email to jackson@intheflownutrition.com to schedule a free initial consult.
