Today I'm sharing some thoughts on where diet, ethics, environmental sustainability, athletic performance, and health intersect into how I describe my own personal nutrition philosophy. The topic of diet is about as polarized and inflammatory as politics and religion so hopefully I can express my perspective in a rational and mindful way. I'll explore things like the differences and similarities in eating for health vs eating for performance, the ethical and moral components of what we put on our plate and how food impacts the planet, defining and characterizing vegan vs. plant-based diets and why I follow them, and more. My goal with this one is really to just share how I feel about food, and kind of a status report on where I stand with my own nutrition philosophy, which has certainly evolved considerably over the past decade. So I hope you find it helpful in your own pursuits of eating, moving, and living more intentionally.
